A Piece of Goodness

A “charism” is a spiritual gift given to share with others for their benefit. Clarence has been given with the charisms of spiritual direction, writing poetry and painting. Over the past nine years, he has shared these gifts through his book Everyday Sacred and his month email Connecting New. During this time many of you have affirmed that sharing these gifts has been uplifting, inspiring, thought-provoking or helpful to you in other ways. You have shared Connecting New emails with your friends. You have used poems from Everyday Sacred at retreats, weddings, funerals and many occasions in between. Now is the time for Clarence to share more through a daily piece of goodness.

A Piece of Goodness

Each day,
let a piece of goodness go.
Let a piece of goodness flow
from you,
through you,
into the rest of the universe.
It may spread like wildflowers,
blossoming in ways unexpected.
It may spread like wildfire,
making room for something new
and triggering germination of seeds long dormant.

And should a piece of goodness return to you,
perhaps barely recognizable,
welcome it into your arms and into your heart.
Yes, if it should return to you,
welcome your goodness home.
