Easter
It’s in the darkness,
in the struggle and unknowing,
the perseverance and the trusting,
the impulse for new life and
the fulfillment of surrender,
that a seed breaks open.
Yet once open, the unknowing,
the struggle in the darkness remains,
and the only seeming change is the seed itself
rather than the entire world.
I long to be a broken, surrendered, fecund seed,
free from past fears and doubts,
bursting forward with indomitable strength,
determination and confidence –
not mine but yours,
not yours but ours,
blossoming into the beautiful oneness
of life and what lies beyond.
