My Heart in Silence Waits for You
My heart in silence waits for you dear Lord,
and I am so grateful that I can see this moment
how you have loved me in so many ways
through so many people,
and although obscure for this moment
how you have used me in that same way to love others.
There are no doubts that you have.
It matters not the sounds around me –
music, talking, airplanes,
because truly I am still,
my heart in silence waits for you,
welcomes you,
makes love with you.
Again I say yes to you,
to what I cannot comprehend,
to what I experience only in holy glimpses.
I trust you with my existence and my future.
Surely not to trust you is an irrational act.
I say yes to your wishes and desires,
to the challenges and opportunities you offer,
to your felt presence,
to your felt absence,
to lightness and to darkness,
to longing,
to struggling,
to resting,
to consolation and encouragement,
to accepting that I am a being enveloped in your love.
Praise you Oh God,
unfathomable and all loving,
gentle, kind and oh so considerate.
Praise you Jesus, in Spirit, in flesh,
in others, in nature and in me.
