The Cure at Bethesda
It’s our mutual expectation that we
won’t connect that irritates me so,
that you won’t get my soup order right,
and that I won’t make my soup order clear.
Of course you will let the door slam on me, unaware,
and when our paths cross, we will be in each other’s way.
I want the world to be different, to be positive.
I want today to be different, to be uplifting.
And I know, although I hesitate to admit it,
that any change must start with me.
If anything is to change, it must start with me.
