As a love interest gives flowers to his hopeful,
so God gives us trees, grass, clouds,
starry nights, sweet rain,
and insects too ingenious to imagine.
“Oh, won’t you please engage me?” God wishes.
As a five-year-old child hangs on his mother’s
recognition of the paper-plate purse he has made,
so God desires us simply to notice—
“See what I made, just for you!”
Love expressed deeper than words,
with such vulnerability, innocence, and freedom.
