New Moon
In the darkness there is possibility…
for our dreams
for what we cannot imagine
for what we fear
for what may break us open
to death, to new life
In the darkness we wait…
for the reassurance
for the phone call
for the diagnosis
for the message from God
In the darkness we pray…
that we may hear
that we may be true
that we may be helpful
that we may be loving
in every way, in every circumstance
Reflection and Prayer
“Darkness is not dark for you, and night shines as the day. Darkness and light are but one.” (Psalm 139:12) Ask God to bring to your memory a time of darkness (loss, fear, grief, etc.). Perhaps you are in such a time right now. How was/is God with you during that time? It may be easier to recognize this in retrospect, while at the time it may have been difficult to feel God’s presence. Now invite Jesus to be with you. Ask him to share with you how he is feeling knowing that his torture and death are but one day away. Join him in his darkness out of love. End by praying over him.
