Like That
Close your eyes and see a mature oak.
Below the surface visualize the millions of microscopic
fibers absorbing the nourishment offered.
Stay there and admire that beauty.
Take your time to notice the thousands of branch tips
and budding leaves knowing and living their true purpose.
Imagine that tree’s cycle through the seasons,
in tune, in harmony, adapting, thriving, struggling,
surrendering, ever changing.
Receiving and receptive, alive and authentic,
vulnerable and strong, transient and connected.
Like that, I yearn to be like that.
